Affiliate networks, like Clickbank, ShareASale, and PayDotCom, give
sellers a place to describe their product or service so affiliates can
see if it's something they'd be interested in working with.
If you joined one, take a few minutes to write the right description to attract affiliates.
Here's an actual ad from Clickbank:
1 Hour A Day $4,000/Mnth... Amazing
Affiliate Opportunity! The Most Amazingly Simple Real Business
Opportunity Available. How To Make Over $4,000 A Month For 1 Hour A Day
Flipping Domain Names! Tons Of Real Testimonials. IT Works! Affiliates
Earn 75%! High Converting!
That seller would be amazed to know that I would skip right over his
product because his ad sounds so spammy, I immediately don't trust him
to sell a quality product that delivers what he claims in his sales
copy.
As an affiliate, I want to know what it is and what it does, and I especially like it when the product's name is in the ad:
SiteBuilder Elite.
Create Content-rich Websites With The Click Of A Button. Monetize With
A Variety Of Income Streams Including Google Adsense, Amazon, AdBrite,
ModernClick, Kontera, Chitika. All Created Pages Have RSS As Standard.
Add Instant Content. Sites SEO Optimised.
I
often use the 'Search' function to try to find a certain kind of
product or service on a particular network's site. If they ask
you for tags or keywords to describe yours, fill it in so
affiliates can easily find it.
When it comes to marketing your site, you know you have to get your
name everywhere so people will find you, right? Well, the same
goes for affiliates. Increase your chances of them finding you by
submitting your site to every affiliate directory you can find.
Here are the first two pages of affiliate directories on Google to get you started:
If you’d rather give yourself a root canal than go to site after site after site and fill in all this information:
Name
Company name
Street address
City
State
Zip code
Phone number
Fax
Email address
Website URL
Product name
Short description
Long description
Category
Keywords
Product URL
Affiliate sign-up URL
Payout
Commission type
Etc., etc.
…over and over on every single directory, here’s a program that will enter it all in for you quick and easy (and painless!).
SEO Your Site for Affiliates
As I mentioned before, affiliates often use search engines to find a
specific type of product or service, so make sure you optimize your
site so affiliates can find it. Think of the keywords affiliates
would use to find what you offer and make sure you incorporate them
into your sales copy and into your keyword META tag. Here are
some suggestions:
Let everyone who visits your site know you have an affiliate program. Put
links to it on all your pages to make it easy to find. Most sites have
either an “Affiliates” link or an “Earn Money” link at
the top of the page (usually right near the header) that takes you to
their affiliate page. Others just have a link at the very bottom
of their site with their other links (“Terms,” ”Privacy,” etc.).
And then there are the smart ones like Marlon Sanders. He took
this to a new level on his
Marketing Dashboard
site. Not only does he have an enticing “Get 80% Commission” link
at the top of the site, and an easy-to-find “Associates” link at the
bottom, but he also incorporated his affiliate program into his site’s
sales copy:
Just Two Sales And Your
Copy Is Free
The associate program pays out 70% commission, up to 80%. While
you don't make a commission on your own purchase, you make 70% (up to
80%) on all sales after your own purchase. Therefore, only two sales
means your copy is free. The associate
program signup is at www.getyourprofits.com if you aren't an
existing associate.
And in his offer:
You Get "The Marketing
Dashboard" With 6 Software Program Free Trials,
Plus a 100% Money Back Guarantee And A 70% Profit Associate Program,
All Backed By The Credibility Of Marlon Sanders And The Amazing Formula
That Has Created And Rolled Out 20 Products Since 1997 When Others Have
Dried Up And Blown Away!
By
including his affiliate program in his offer, Marlon turns buyers into
affiliates and gets even more sales down the road.
Your Current Customers
Who better to sell your product or services than someone who's
already used it? If you've been collecting your customers' email
addresses, send them a message letting them know that you just started
an affiliate program and that could make money by recommending it to
others.
